Established in 2001 by Government Decision 638/2001, on the existing structure of the former Research Centre for Sports (since 1967), the National Institute for Sport Research (RO: Institutul National de Cercetare pentru Sport) is a unique public institution and facility in the field of applied research in sport, under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Sports. INCS primary objective is sustaining the high performance of Romanian athletes and promoting both elite and grassroot sports.
During its over 50 years of history, the collaboration between the institute and various Romanian sport federations was a cornerstone for many sport medals and titles in European championships, World championships and Olympics. Renowned Romanian athletes added a new brick in the edifice of their performances by training in our premises, working together with our specialists for improved performances.
Currently, INCS is administrating the Romanian Register of Sport Athletes as well as the National Biomotoric Register of School Population, on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sport. INCS is involved since 2012 in Erasmus projects, starting with the calls for Preparative Actions in the Field of Sport. Since, INCS participated as partner or on voluntary bases in over 15 such projects and proposed and leaded other two projects.
